These bright red giraffes paraded in the Perth Cultural District and were herded by a divine opera diva, red flares lit up the night sky and families flocked to see the sight. The only spectacular outdoor event in the festival for families, more like this please!

This really is a fascinating place and worth a look on our travels in WA. For many years, the community have been collecting their history from the local shops and businesses, schools and public services, and tell the visual history of settlement through everyday objects collected and donated.
They have moved entire buildings such as the wooden school, memorial hall and fire station, or rebuilt them. We spent a great afternoon there with friendly hospitality.

Endless roads lined by salmon gum trees, no one else in sight, driving on the red dirt tracks across flat open country, completley stripped of bush for agriculture.

Saline lakes reflect the sky, the cost of stripping the land.

Wet & sunny, first rain for ages makes for a beautiful rainbow the morning we arrive.

Started off a wonderful road trip across the Wheatbelt, here in Perth WA, with a few days at a friends shack and land in Toojay. So wet saw double rainbows, over earth which is surrounded by rose quartz crystal rocks.Naturally brings out the hippie in me.

The moonlit bath brings back memories of star filled, milky way nights, this is the way to have a bath at night!

The light in Perth is just incredible, when the sun sets the sky moves through layers of colour, and you think it cant get better than this, every night stunning visuals from the reflection on the water. I love coming here in the evening, to cook our dinner and watch the greatest show on earth.

Memorial to actor Heath Ledger, he had a special connection to this place.

This is one of my favourite local places to visit. Its only down the road for us to visit the Swan River with super views of Wayland Bay and Melville Water, great cafe and ship shaped play area. Its like a mini village, with a clock tower and art gallery, in what used to be a hospital for the mentally ill, right up to 1994. The land was originally part of the Aboriginal tribal lands where the Beeliar people lived and hunted before 1827, when Captain James Stirling set up a garden to test the soil but favoured Perth for the capital city. He named the site after Midshipman G.C Heathcote - said to be the first Europen to set foot there.

Found myself in Fremantle again today, after coming on Friday to Spare Parts Puppet theatre. I do absolutely love the place, especially its historic buildings and the place it shares in the the Bride Ships history. Being by the sea, this is the where 50 female immigrants from the Lancashire cotton mills arrived to escape the cotton famine and start new lives in the Swan River colony 1863 .

Though not there again this year, Glastonbury holds a fond place in my heart. From age 18 years, half my life Ive been and I can remember that feeling when you arrive near the site. A magical place, even in the 80's when dub reggae & travellers ruled.No one dare have a camera thenand there was no communication to the outside world at all. My best recent Glasto pics .Must one day scan in some real oldies, but they in the Uk.

A new collection of images made from found natural objects and recycled materials. The only thing bought is a Sharpie fineliner, the rest is made up from bits found in the street and in the recycle box.

Sustainable art about the nature deficient world our children are being brought up in.

There are 12 images in all, for the 12 months of the year, image 12 has already been sold.

All images are for sale at $30 each 0r £20, p&p inc

A % of profit will be used to fund the outdoor classroom & bush area at our local school.

Rottnest Island Cemetries

The original European white settlers of Rottnest are laid to rest in a marked graveyard, where sandstone headstones have been carved by hand for their loved ones.

In marked contrast, the Aboriginal prisoners taken here to serve sentence and work on the island for the Europeans, were buried in this wooded area of the island. It was only been acknowledged as sacred ground in the early 90's.

As I walk home, I can hear the throaty, warbled voice of the magpies and the croaky 'art, art! ' of the crows in the trees. Two dragonflies dance by in front of my eyes, while the sun shines down and shows their shadows on the hot tarmac. Nearby our house, orange red leaves are actually falling from the tree, non native of course. The indigenous old ones are busy shedding their bark in long strips ready to set on fire like a tinder box. Aeroplanes regularly rumble, flying low overhead in their redirected routes to the airport. On the top of the hill, home made swings from old rubber tyres and bottle crates, sway in the breeze. From the corner of Mitchell, Chapman and Duke, in one direction you see the skyscrapers of Perth city and looking the other, the Hills in the country. Always the smell of Eucalyptus on the soft breeze.

What I love is the kind of eclectic madness thats here, from the Americanisation of the 50's, the Victorian empire, the rightful Indigenous influence and the multiculturism of all the world living here in Perth.

Had a fantastic weekend thanks to the grandparents, on the beautiful island off Perth. Stayed in the little chalets, cycled everywhere and brought the rain with us! but the skies soon cleared. You cant beat swimming outdoors, even if it is meant to be winter here in the southern hemisphere.

I am so in love with this part of the world, the colours of the rocks and shapes are so different & ancient. Those Elephant Rocks sure look like whales to me and Im told when the whales come with their babies in June they shelter here on their journey.So they must act as camouflage.

Back there again this weekend, 5 hours from Perth to drive but the air is so fresh, the ocean so blue and the feeling of a vast continent really hits you when you realise that the next country from here is Antartica! This really is the end of the world and somewhere I have always wanted to hang out, lucky the Oz grandparents live here now to babysit!

Views of an abandoned model village, this fairytale castle is all thats left graffitied and full of the biggest mosquitos Ive ever seen! so big I thought they were just flies, till i realised how much id been bitten. Worth it for the photos though, just about.....

This is exactly the same flower shape as in the film 'Avatar', the wispy, rainforest light spirits that float down. It was an incredibly strange experience to travel through the Rainforest with this film playing on the bus, the same themes of natures destruction to profit capitalism. It was a technicolour experience I will never forget.

Beautiful views of Mount Kinabalu in Sabah, but unbelievably spoilt by a huge black plastic bag of disposable nappies split open in the sun, stinking at the view point. Whilst travelling through the rainforest and palm plantations, 'Avatar' was playing on the tv and the visual similarities were stunning.
